Membership FAQs
Membership FAQs
How many members does Temple of Israel have?
We have approximately 175 families.
What are the benefits of affiliation?
Affiliation provides you with a personal connection to a vibrant Jewish congregation and enriches your life through worship, study, and community. As a member you receive access to full Rabbinic services, religious school, and all Temple facilities. You will receive participation in adult education programs, youth group and much more.
How do I join Temple of Israel?
Just print and complete the membership application and mail it to the Temple at 400 Spring Forest Road, Greenville, SC 29615 or contact our Membership Committee Chair Pat Cohen at (864)757-8989.
How much are membership dues?
We have recently adopted a membership dues system with fixed amounts for each membership category. Annual Family dues are $2000, Single Member Family dues are $1000, and Families Under Age 30 dues are $500. If you are unable to participate at these dues levels, then we will be pleased to schedule a confidential meeting to discuss an alternative dues schedule. Alternatively, we ask that you consider a higher amount if you feel able.
What if I can’t afford membership dues?
We have dues modification available for anyone who needs it. Contact our Financial Secretary to schedule a confidential discussion. No one will be turned away due to their inability to pay.
What is a Building Fund?
These are funds used to retire debt incurred during the construction and renovation of our facilities. This allows us to dedicate all of our dues revenue to the operating budget. The Building Fund pledge is a one-time contribution equal to your annual dues which can be spread over five years.
