The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) at the Temple of Israel is committed to providing the highest quality early childhood education program. We are the only preschool of its kind in the Upstate of South Carolina. Great emphasis is placed on the quality of the interaction between staff and children and the developmental appropriateness of the curriculum. The ECEC welcomes children of all faiths.

School Philosophy and Curriculum
ECEC is dedicated to the growth and development of young children in a Jewish environment. Our preschool program is designed to encourage each child to develop his/her potential within a warm, supportive, and stimulating environment. We support and encourage the social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development of our children. Children are encouraged to learn through their play. Our developmental curriculum offers a healthy balance of art, music, language arts, fine motor play, gross motor play, social interaction, science, multi-cultural and Jewish topics. It is through these daily activities that our children will acquire a solid sense of security, a positive self-esteem, and a long-term enthusiasm for learning.

In addition to the general curriculum, enriching activities are provided to enhance the student's learning. Each week, our ECEC children participate in music, gym, and a Shabbat celebration. Additionally, children enjoy special activities and events during the school year including the celebration of Jewish holidays.

If you are registering your child at other times of the school year, and an opening is available, plans will be made to enroll the child immediately upon receiving a completed enrollment packet, registration fee, and tuition fees.

News from the Director

ECEC Director

As Director of the Early Childhood Education Center at Temple of Israel, I thank you for entrusting us with the education of your precious child. We know you made the right choice!

We have an extraordinary program here at ECEC that combines developmentally appropriate Judaic and secular activities to encourage learning, discovery, and independence. Our classroom staff, along with the movement, music and Judaic specialists use hands on, real life experiences to foster success and self-confidence with each of our students.

A successful preschool experience requires a partnership between home and school. Cooperation and active parent participation are essential to meet these goals. Parents and teachers, who work together with commitment, facilitate successful holiday celebrations, social activities, and positive memories for our children.

Your Parent Handbook represents a brief summary of the policies and procedures of our preschool. I look forward to getting to know each of you and your families.

Please feel free to contact me, my door is always open.
