A Woman of Valor, Who can find her

A Woman of Valor, Who can find her?
She stretches her hand out to the poor; she reaches her hand out to the needy.

Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in times to come.
She shall be honored for her kindness and good deeds.

She speaks words of wisdom; compassion is her virtue.

Who is an Ayshet Chayil – a Woman of Valor? There are our matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah. And women like Golda Meir and Henrietta Szold.  A Woman of Valor, she is one devoted to her family and to her faith.  These women of valor remind us of what we value, what we build from...those upon whose shoulders we stand.

A Woman of Valor; who can find her? As we do mtizvot within our congregation, you will see the Women of Valor at the Temple of Israel. Though we are a diverse group, we are all committed to doing mitzvot and tzedakah.

Who are the Women of our Sisterhood? We are women with full and active lives. We volunteer in our community, schools, political organizations and for sacred causes. We champion for causes close to our hearts. All the while we care for our homes, rear our children and honor our families. We are concerned for all the peoples of the world. We study Torah and work to make the world a better place.  We generously give of ourselves, volunteer our time, contribute money, share our expertise, and work to improve the lives of our children, the disadvantaged, elderly and the disabled.

We work cooperatively with our Tempe and religious school leaders. We work together on the Sukkot celebration and provide the congregation with an opportunity to celebrate Hanukah together at the Latke dinner. We present each Bar/ Bat Mitzvah  with a gift to honor the occasion. We support other programs that reach out to all congregants, such as the Birthday/Anniversary club and the Sunshine and Caring Committees.  We are committee chairs, committee members, and gift shop volunteers. Yad v’ Yad, the sacred circle of Jewish life is made whole when hands are clasped firmly together – women’s hands together with men’s, leaders’ together with followers’, our rabbi together with congregants’.

Women of the Temple of Israel, we need your help to continue to do these  mitzvot. Volunteer to serve on the Sisterhood Board. Please email me at momjest1@aol.com or call me (evenings at 864-834-8017)and let me know that you are interested in ensuring the future of our Sisterhood.
