Registration is now open for Temple youth basketball!  We have teams for all school ages K through 12th grade.  Prior experience is NOT required!  Our focus is on fun and fellowship while spending time with Jewish friends and competing against church teams in Greenville County.  Practices begin at the Temple the first week in November (one evening per week TBD) and games begin the first week in December on Saturdays (except Senior boys play on Thursday nights).  We play in a league with mostly Methodist and Catholic churches and the season continues through mid to late February.

 Students in our Religious School are among those who working on their “God and Country” Award within the various programs of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and their affiliates.

Over half a century ago, Jewish religious programs were added to these awards. These are challenging programs that require substantial study and specific Jewish accomplishments. They not only contribute to the earning of a scouting emblem, but also dovetail well with the education provided by our Religious School. One of the seven goals of our Religious School is "a tolerance of difference." The Temple of Israel and its Rabbi and Religious School are committed to respect for diversity regardless of sexual orientation. The policy foundation of this principle can be found in our Temple Board Statement.

The issue of diversity has been heartily debated within the national structures of the BSA. As our students participate in the life of scouting, we trust that their Reform Jewish values will make themselves felt, and that they will contribute here as elsewhere, their commitment to a community founded on mutual understanding and "a tolerance of difference."

What is Project Host?

Started in 1981 as an outreach program of the local Episcopal churches. Since then, it has continued to grow to accommodate the community’s needs. Our current facilities house a 185-seat dining area and a fully equipped commercial kitchen.

Every day of the year, from 11am to noon, they offer homemade soup, a sandwich, fruit, and a beverage to those in our community who, for one reason or another, can’t quite make it on their own right now. They don’t ask why. And they don’t criticize. They simply feed people. In fact, last year alone they were able to provide over 78,000 meals to the needy.
