On Wednesday morning, November 18, Nofrat Frankel, a young Israeli medical student was arrested while participating in the Women of the Wall (WOW) Rosh Chodesh service at the Kotel. Wrapped in a tallit, she was holding the Sefer Torah given to WOW, in honor of the incoming Women of Reform Judaism president. Read Women of the Wall Arrest: A First-Hand Account and a commentary by chairperson of WOW, Anat Hoffman. Those who attended the TOI Shabbat Service may remember the women of our congregation wearing a tallit in solidarity with the Reform Jewish Women in Israel.
How can we help Nofrat Frenkel and Women of the Wall? Write to Ambassador Michael B. Oren, Embassy of Israel, 3514 International Drive NW, Washington, DC 20008 or send emal messages to: info@washinton.mfa.gov.il.
