Third Annual Upstate SC Jewish Festival ShalomFest'11
The dream of bringing a Jewish cultural festival to the upstate of South Carolina became a reality in 2009, when the Temple of Israel created ShalomFest. ShalomFest is an annual festival which is designed to educate and entertain the public while building strength in the community. It includes a variety of fun activities, educational programs, specialty foods, and entertainment.

The second annual ShalomFest was a tremendous success, with more than 3,000 attendees representing a variety of races, religions, and cultures. The Temple of Israel is now planning the Third Annual ShalomFest, and looks forward to expanding the success of the last two years as it offers even more variety, traditional foods, and enriching experiences to the people of  Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. We anticipate even greater attendance in 2011.

Food is what brings people to a cultural festival, and ShalomFest will not disappoint. Delicious pastries prepared by members of our own congregation will be offered along with hot foods and holiday treats that are traditional in many Jewish households. While savoring these delicacies, feel free to participate in the many experiences and exhibitions that examine different aspects of Jewish life.

Throughout the Temple, educational rooms will be arranged for people to visit and learn about Judaism; the history, the Hebrew language, and the religion. This will include Jewish holiday presentations, a Torah display, Jewish life cycle events, information about Israel, lectures by our Rabbi and tours of our facility. Additional activities will include Israeli dancing and live music. There will even be a “Bouncy House” and Jewish craft projects and games for children.
